Elementary Math and Literacy Interventionist supporting K - 5

  • This will be a full-time position.
  • The Interventionist will have groups that will vary between 4 and 6 kids.
  • This postion is set up to be a pull out/push in intervention.

Interventionists are a key piece to closing the achievement gap and setting the tone and community expectations with their students each day. 

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Building positive relationships with their students and also hold them to high expectations.
  • Managing their groups with positive proactive systems and strong rituals and routines.
  • Using normed data points (ie iReady) to identify students who should receive intervention services.
  • Do additional testing on identified students to determine the appropriate focus for intervention to close the gap of students.
  • Providing targeted intervention to students in their selected groups four times a week.
  • Measuring student growth and intervention effectiveness.
  • Progress monitor students throughout intervention block to ensure students are making progress on intervention target goal. 
  • Overseeing the SIT process at Highline Academy.
  • Responsible for communicating the SIT process to teachers, helping teachers in understanding forms, and collecting forms from teachers.
  • Responsible for communicating with parents, teachers, administration, and any other necessary parties about student concerns and needs.
  • Responsible for any subsequent meetings that are needed as the student moves through the SIT process, continuing communication with parents and classroom teachers, and involving SIT at the appropriate point in the MTSS process.

Skills and Qualities Sought

  • Very strong communication skills, as the interventionist will manage a lot of communication both with teachers and with parents.

  • Experience in backwards design
  • Excitement about utilizing National Common Core Standards.
  • Working knowledge of standards based education
  • Strong classroom management
  • Collaborative skills
  • ELA-T Certification a plus
  • Bilingual not required but a plus

  Requirements  

  • ESSA and Highly Qualified compliant
  • Urban experience preferred
  • Elementary experience with small groups
